Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer, a 54-year-old German woman, married the Berlin Wall in 1979 after being diagnosed with a condition called Objectum Sexual. She says she fell in love with the architectural structure when she was seven years old and saw it on television. She began collecting photos of “him” and saved money to visit the wall.

On her sixth trip to visit the wall in 1979, she married it. However, in 1989 the wall was torn down, leaving her devastated. She has never returned to the original site and has instead created her own replica of the wall.

Eija-Riitta’s story sheds light on Objectum Sexual, a condition where individuals develop romantic or sexual attractions to inanimate objects. While the condition is rare, it highlights the complexity of human sexuality and the different forms that love and desire can take.

Despite the challenges she has faced, Eija-Riitta remains devoted to her love for the Berlin Wall. Her story raises questions about the nature of love and the limits of human connection, and serves as a reminder that there is no one “right” way to experience love.
