Thanh Hoa: Touching story of parents-in-law organizing wedding for daughter-in-law.

After being encouraged many times by her parents-in-law, Ms. Do Thi Le (28 years old) has decided to take “one more step” in the joy and happiness of both families.

Special wedding.

In recent days, countless praises on social media have been given to a special wedding in Thanh Hoa province Vietnam, where the parents-in-law organized a wedding for their daughter-in-law to marry a new husband.

Upon investigation, the parents-in-law in this wedding are Mrs. Le Thi Mua (56 years old) and Mr. Le Sy Thanh (59 years old, from Hoang Son commune, Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province). On April 30th, Mr. Thanh and Mrs. Mua organized a wedding ceremony for their daughter-in-law, Do Thi Le, to marry a man who is not their son.

In an interview with a reporter, Mrs. Mua said that she was very surprised and overwhelmed by the attention and praise that her family’s story had received from many people.

Mrs. Mua shared that in 2016, Ms. Do Thi Le got married to her youngest son. In November 2016, when Ms. Le was two months pregnant with a baby boy, her son-in-law and husband unexpectedly passed away due to an accident.

The sudden loss of her husband caused Ms. Le to suffer a great shock. A few months later, when Ms. Le went for an ultrasound, the doctor discovered that the fetus had a cleft palate. Worried that her daughter-in-law would face difficulties in the future, Mrs. Mua and her husband considered whether to keep or abandon the baby. However, unable to bear the thought of abandoning their own flesh and blood, Ms. Le decided to keep the baby, hoping that advanced medicine would be able to cure the baby’s illness in the future.

However, when the baby was born, he suffered from cerebral palsy and could not move or walk. “Losing her husband and having to endure the pain of having a sick child, seeing her daughter-in-law worry day and night, taking care of the child and offering food to her deceased husband, it was very painful for me,” Mrs. Mua shared. “When my grandson was a few years old, I encouraged my daughter-in-law to marry someone else to alleviate her suffering, but she insisted on staying with the family.”

According to Mrs. Mua, at the beginning of 2023, after being encouraged many times by her parents-in-law and siblings, Ms. Le decided to take “one more step”, and at the same time informed Mrs. Mua that she wanted to bring her boyfriend home to meet the family.

“At that time, I was very happy, but I joked with my daughter-in-law that her future son-in-law had to be approved by me before they could get married. I also inquired about the future son-in-law’s family background. When I saw that the two were compatible, and the prospective son-in-law was kind and sympathetic to Lệ’s situation, my husband and I decided to organize a wedding for our daughter-in-law on April 30th,” Mrs. Mua shared.

On the day of the dowry payment ceremony for the daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mua prepared 30 trays of food, inviting many friends and relatives to celebrate the occasion like a normal wedding. However, the mother’s emotions were mixed with both happiness and sadness. “The fact that my daughter-in-law is getting married is happy, but also sad. Since Le became my daughter-in-law, I have treated her as my own child. Now that she is getting married, I feel a sense of emptiness. However, my husband and I always encourage each other, now we have another child, and in the future, we will have more grandchildren,” Mrs. Mua said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Le Sy Thanh (the father-in-law of Ms. Le) hopes that in their new family, his daughter-in-law will enjoy complete happiness and be able to overcome the pain and difficulties she has faced. “Le has been through a lot of pain, losing her husband when she was still so young. I have encouraged her many times, but only now has she agreed to get married. I hope that her new home will make her happy,” Mr. Thanh shared.

Going the extra mile for her daughter-in-law

Although the wedding had taken place over a week ago, Ms. Do Thi Le continues to receive numerous congratulations from her loved ones, the online community, and her friends.

According to Ms. Le, when she decided to take “one more step,” she thought a lot about the encouragement she received from her mother-in-law. “Since becoming a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mua has treated me like her own child. I love her very much, and I know how much she and her husband suffered from the loss of their son. That’s why I decided to stay with the family to take care of them in place of my late husband. My mother-in-law is very humorous, and we are like sisters. Sometimes when I’m sad, she encourages, comforts, and even jokes to make me happy,” Ms. Le shared.

It is clear that the mother-in-law, Mrs. Mua, has gone the extra mile for her daughter-in-law, supporting her through difficult times and encouraging her to take the next step in her life. Their relationship is a testament to the importance of family and the love and support that can be found within it.

Ms. Le revealed that two years ago, when she was in a difficult situation, a man expressed his desire to marry her. However, due to his family’s objections and their unwillingness to accept a daughter-in-law who had already been married, the relationship did not work out.

It was not until she met Mr. Le Sy Thuy (36 years old, from Hoang Giang commune, Nong Cong district) that Ms. Le decided to get married.

“My new husband loves my mother and me very much, and his family is also very sympathetic to our situation, so I decided to marry him. I only hope that we will love each other unconditionally, and no matter whether we are poor or wealthy, we will take care of each other and share our lives to be happy,” Ms. Le shared.

According to Ms. Le, after the wedding, her parents-in-law suggested bringing her son to live with the family. However, her former parents-in-law had different opinions and wanted to help her build a new happy life.

“When they learned that I wanted to bring my son to live with them, my mother-in-law said that my son was sick, so they would take care of him for me so that I could work and take care of my new family. The love of my former parents-in-law for me is wonderful, and it is the happiest thing in my life,” Ms. Le said.
