Shocked Bride Receives Wedding Cake Decorated with Peacock After Paying 300 USD

A Georgia bride couldn’t wait to receive her dream wedding cake, but when it arrived, she was in for a rude awakening. Despite spending a large sum of money and providing a sample, Rena Davis was shocked to find a cake that was far from what she had envisioned.

According to The Sun, Rena Davis, a 52-year-old woman from Georgia, USA, had ordered a wedding cake in the shape of a peacock from a local bakery a month before her big day. To ensure that the bakery got the design right, Rena sent a picture of a similar cake she had found online.

The cake in the picture Rena provided had a beautiful blue-green peacock with striking and soft feathers that spread down to the cake’s base. After days of anticipation, the $300 cake was finally delivered to Rena’s home the night before her wedding.

Rena eagerly opened the box, only to be disappointed by what she saw. Instead of the elegant and unique peacock, the 52-year-old woman saw two strange animals that were unidentifiable. After examining them for a while, Rena even called them “sick turkeys.”

To make matters worse, just five minutes after the baker left, one of the peacock’s heads fell off. Rena realized that the fondant covering was actually buttercream, and the two “unusual” peacocks were too heavy, causing the two-tiered cake to deform. To avoid any embarrassment, Rena had to rush to stores to buy a replacement cake.

Rena requested a refund, but her request was denied. It wasn’t until she shared her story on social media that the bakery finally sent her a $300 envelope.

The baker did come back to Rena’s house after learning about the damaged cake and tried to fix the peacock design. The baker also admitted to having trouble making the cake and couldn’t produce the cake Rena had envisioned.

However, this made Rena even more upset because if the baker had informed her of the issue, she could have prepared a replacement cake instead of rushing around stores on the morning of her wedding.

“The baker had made a cake for my friend before. I sent her a picture, and she said she could do it. We agreed that the cake would have a heart shape and two peacocks,” Rena explained.

“I was very heartbroken. I looked at the cake and walked out of the room. It was a mess and not at all what I expected. She never asked or contacted me again. The only reason she refunded me was because my post went viral on social media,” Rena added.

Rena’s story highlights the importance of communication and clarity when ordering custom-made wedding cakes. It’s essential to provide clear instructions and to ensure that the baker understands the design you want. If problems arise, they should be communicated as early as possible to avoid any last-minute surprises. Rena’s experience is a cautionary tale for brides-to-be and serves as a reminder to always be vigilant when ordering wedding cakes.
