Tammy Slaton and Amy Slaton of 1000-lb Sisters aren’t the only members of the Slaton family who have lost weight over the years. While Amy and Tammy have incredibly lost a combined 600 plus pounds, their siblings, Chris Combs, Amanda Halterman, and Misty Slaton, have also gotten in on the weight-loss action. The siblings have struggled with weight their whole lives and have relied on a combination of diet and surgery to achieve their impressive weight loss.

1000-lb Sisters season 5 just finished airing and features the large extended Slaton family going on family vacations, riding on airplanes, boats, and visiting the beach, and so on. The Slaton family wasn’t always so active and on the move. Before their various weight-loss journeys, they were unhealthy and homebound. But now that several of the Slatons have lost so much weight, they can get out more and live their best lives.

Tammy Lost Over 400-lbs

1000-lb Sisters star Tammy once weighed more than 700 pounds, but she has undergone a remarkable weight-loss transformation over the last couple of years. Tammy began her weight loss and fitness journey in 2022 and has lost over 400 pounds since then. Despite encountering emotional and physical challenges, she successfully navigated her path and received approval for gastric bypass surgery after attending rehab in Ohio to treat her food addiction.

Before Tammy lost weight, she was in a terrible physical and mental state. Due to her size, it was difficult forTammy to leave her house, so she essentially lived like a prisoner. She couldn’t experience the world or be with her friends and family. In 2022, Tammy suffered a massive health scare that landed her in the hospital. She nearly died and was put in a medically induced coma, but she survived the near-death experience and decided to change her life. Fortunately, Tammy changed her life completely and now enjoys a much more active lifestyle.

Amy began her weight loss and fitness journey during the first season of the series. Despite encountering emotional and physical challenges, Amy successfully navigated her path and received approval for gastric bypass surgery in 2019. By 1000-lb Sisters season 3, Amy achieved further progress, shedding an additional 136 pounds. Amy’s substantial weight loss brought her latest weigh-in to 275 pounds.

Losing weight was a struggle for Amy like it is for almost everyone else, but she had a personal reason for wanting to lose all the weight. During 1000-lb Sisters season 3, a 450-pound Chris underwent weight-loss surgery and rapidly lost 150 pounds. His progress continued, with Chris shedding an additional 100 pounds post-surgery, showcasing an impressive transformation.

During the season premiere of 1000-lb Sisters season 4, Chris discussed his personal reasons for undergoing his weight-loss journey. While the focus is typically on health, Chris brought a humorous twist to his weight-loss narrative during the episode. Playfully mentioning that he was “bringing sexy back.” Despite the jest, Chris’s physical transformation post-weight loss is evident, contributing to a renewed spark in his relationship with his wife, Brittany.

1000-lb Sisters season 5 features Amanda, Amy and Tammy’s step-sister, revealing that she intended to undergo weight-loss surgery for the second time. Amanda reportedly already had bariatric surgery in 2014 before appearing on the show. She lost over 300 pounds after that surgery but wants to shed even more of the weight. Though it isn’t uncommon for some bariatric surgery patients to undergo multiple surgeries, the surgery can present complications and isn’t without risk. At this point, it isn’t yet clear whether Amanda had the second weight-loss surgery.

Amanda wasn’t the only member of the Slaton family potentially going under the knife for weight-loss surgery during 1000-lb Sisters season 5. Amy and Tammy Slaton’s step-sister Misty was also planning her surgery with the same doctor who helped Amy. Ahead of the surgery, Misty faced her fear of who would take care of the children if something happened to her.

Amy also expressed that she was scared because she thought her sister might not make it out of the surgery if something went wrong. Amy said, “I need my sisters, not only because they’re my support systems but that’s family.” Just like with Amanda, it isn’t clear whether Misty went under the knife or not.
